Simple Summer Strategies
Ahh...doesn't alliteration just feel right?
We are ALMOST to the official start of summer, which is June 21st at 1:24am if you follow the summer equinox as your official start to summer.
If you’re like me, you count school being out as the official start of summer, so our household is officially on summer break!
My kids are starting their whirlwind adventure of summer camps this week. We are kicking things off with a bang, and they are attending the world’s most amazing summer camp where they kayak, paddleboard, sail, and swim in the lake all day while I occasionally glance at them from my office window (I’m a lucky duck and have a window that overlooks the lake so can sometimes spot them down there).
I want to be living their lives!
I could make 1,000 jokes about how I am living vicariously through my kids (I mean, what are their glorious, beautiful PNW childhoods???). But in all honesty, picking them up just FULL of all the endorphins and fun and joy has been an absolute highlight to my week. They are LOVING it. And I’m loving that for them.
So my question to you this week is, wherever you find yourself (up or down or in between), how can you bring a little bit of joy to someone in your life?
It could be giving a pint of farm fresh strawberries to your lovely neighbor because you want to share the yummy, perfect taste of freshly picked local strawberry. It could be having someone over for dinner, especially if it’s a college kid or widow or someone who might actually love to be folded into your chaotic family life for just one evening. It could be inviting someone for a quick swim or a nice hike or dropping off the extras from your weekly CSA haul.
I’m thinking about more fun ways to connect this summer - to give and receive love. Nothing fancy. Nothing planned. Just spontaneous ways to show up in people’s lives. What’s your one small way to spread the love this week? Share in the comments!
